To introduce monotheism, it should be conducted even when they are still in the womb.

You can read the Quran to them. After they are born, you can intensify reading the Qoran to them.

When you get used to reading the Koran near to them, they will be interested and begin to imitate what you do. Remember that at the golden age of a childhood, they will imitate everything they hear and see.

When you teach good things, they will also imitate you. However, if you often set a bad example, then don’t blame them if their development is bad.

Know the Age Stages

Educating children in Islam also has stages. Adapted to the age of the children. You can start teaching them while still in the womb by doing good things such as diligent worship, charity, and many others.

1. Toddler age

In this age, start listening to the Quran and sentences of Allah AWT and his Messenger. So they will imitate everything they hear.

The stages of educating children at the age of five and adolescents are certainly different. After the toddler, you should let your children be creative as they wish.

The most important thing is to guard their behavior, so that you don’t get harsh words from them.

Beside that, start introducing the basic reading of Quran, and teaching them to memorize light prayers, such as prayers to eat, prayers after eating, prayers to sleep and so on.

2. Children age

Stepping on the age of children, start by teaching them to read Al-Qur’an intensively. If you are busy. Send your children to a Quranic Education Center, or ask a teacher to teach them at home.

In other ways, you have to teach them how to be discipline in reciting Quran every day.

Even though the children already have a Quran teacher, it does not mean you then leave them alone. Try to test their reading which they have learned. This is also a form of attention to them.

When you give a compliment to an activity they do outside, they will feel happy because you are so concerned about it.

You also have to start teaching them to recite prayers by memorizing if they can’t read. Besides that, ask them to pray together both at home and at the mosque.

Prioritizing them to the mosque, because if they often gather in a positive environment, it will trigger a positive character.

Tell them that the mosque is the house of God. When the children are used to praying at the mosque, they usually will ask you first to go there when the call to prayer is sounded.

3. Youth age

At this stage, the children should be able to pray and be fluent in his reading. They also bigin to read the Quran smoothly. So you can start teaching them about life. Because this age is the most vulnerable age in their mentality and personality.

At this age, they can also distinguish between good and bad. So keep an eye on children’s development starting from their behaviors, worships and associations with their friends.

Especially social problems, do not let them get along with people who can bring negative influence to them.

There are many cases where teenagers, if at home, look pious, in fact when they gather with their friends, they are drunk and smoke.

So keep monitoring their association. Routinely give them advice and ask him to be involved in family discussions. So they feel they are considered in the middle of family.

Be a Good Example

In Islam, example is the way the Prophet educates children. You can’t just teach, tell and remind. But you yourself as a parent must be a role model and set a good example.

How does your children want to be diligent in praying if your own prayer is still hollow? Even so, you hope your children can read the Quran smoothly, but you rarely open it, so your hope is nothing.

Other ways, maintain your behavior and speech. When you often speak harshly, it’s natural for children to do the same. Conversely, if your speech is good in everyday life. They will also behave the same.

So, give examples of how to talk to people who are older or to their peers.

Also teach them to save money. So that they will get used to setting aside a portion of their pocket money to save.

Observe the Characters of Children

Every child certainly has different traits and characters. For example, in educating the first child, you use method A. But for the second child, you do not use the same method. You might be able to educate your first child a little hard, but you can’t necessarily do it for the second one. Also the method of educating girls must be different from educating boys.

Why?

Because the characters of each child are different. Some are responsive but some are slow.

Observe the nature and character of the children first. then you think about how best to educate them in Islam.

Teach Prayers and Other Worships

At the beginning, maybe they will carelessly imitate your prayer movements. After they got used to it, start to teach them slowly about the correct prayer movements.

In the age of children, start teaching prayer readings and continue to ask them to pray with you.

Do not let them be affected by joke while praying. Slowly tell them that joking at prayer is sin. They can do some jokes after finishing the prayer.

In addition to prayer teaching, start educating them to do fasting in the month of Ramadan. Ask them to fast half a day, and wake them up before the dawn. You can promise a gift so that they keep strong to fast until the middle day.

In the following days, increase the fasting level until Ashar time, or even untill you arrive at sunset. Sometimes they rebel and whine for food.

But don’t lose your mind. Take them for a walk or do activities that they like. That way will make them forget their hunger.

By teaching five daily prayers and other worship services, it will at least make them accustomed to when he grows up.

Instill Discipline

The next way to educate children in Islam is to instill discipline. You can teach this discipline attitude from small things like getting up early, when it’s time to play, to learn and so on.

As a parent, you must always remind them. Especially for matters of worship such as five daily prayers. Never be bored to remind or if necessary ask them to congregate together.

For everyday life, you should also need to limit their playing time. The point is to teach them to be able to manage time. So that when they grow up, the discipline you cultivate will shape in their heart.

Create a harmonious Environment

The ways to educate children in Islam can be built from a family environment. Therefore, create a family with Islamic nuances so that your children are accustomed to Islamic values.

Besides that, create a harmonious environment so that their mental or moral condition grows well.

Both you and your partner must always maintain harmony so that children always think that their family is fine. That way, they will feel comfortable at home.

Even if there is a dispute with your couple and finally a fight occurs. It is better not to be shown in front of children. Because this will disturb their psychological condition.Especially if you come out with a curse sentence. Certainly will make them imitate your bad behavior.

Teach with Full Softness

Especially if your children are lack of understanding. You have to be extra careful, because if you are impatient and even angry, instead of being able to do it, they will not even understand what you mean. And don not limit your love to children. So that they will be open to you.

Teaching children gently is not only conducted by mothers. Father is also obliged to do it.Indeed, the nature of tenderness is more owned by a mother. While most fathers are rigid, impatient, and sometimes rude.

But for the good of the children, you should not be too harsh in educating them. Because it won’t be good for their developments. You may be tough, but must be at a reasonable level. So that the children do not behave harshly towards parents.

Be Fair to All Children

The way Islam educates children is fair to all children. Do not choose love, for example, to the youngest one to make his brother jealous.

Because it can shape the character of children who like jealousy, and maybe his brother will hate because he feels distinguished in terms of the love you give.

Events this often occurs, there are small children to say like this “father and mother do not love Andra now, unfortunately only love a younger brother”

If your child says so, then he feels that you only love his sister, or he feels he doesn’t get the same affection. That means you have to be fair. Things like this must be avoided if you want to educate children in Islam.

Indeed, your smaller child needs more attention and affection than his brother. But that does not mean you put aside the older one. It would be better if you involve the older to help you take care of his brother.

Tell him subtly that your younger siblings are still small, so i have to help your mom guard him“. So he will feel deemed to be there.

Give Punishment When Required

Educating in Islam also needs punishment when children make mistakes. But the punishment you give must be educational. It is better to avoid punishment with physical violence even though it can provide a deterrent effect, it will actually cause trauma to them.

In punishing children, you should adjust it to the mistakes they make. Try to find a punishment that is mild but can have a deterrent effect on him.

Such as your children are used to hitting other people, give them the penalty of cleaning the bathroom or so on. And when the next day they make the same thing, you should not feel sorry, keep your order to punish them.

Why?

Because if you now punish them and the next day you won’t. It’s the same as you teach to be inconsistent.

Besides that, after they have finished serving the sentence, you should tell the reason why you are punishing them, so they understand the consequences of the mistakes they make.

Sometimes parents give severe punishment without children know why they were punished with a small mistake they make. If you do so, this will make them think that you are evil parent.

The purpose of the punishment itself is to avoid them repeating the same mistakes over and over again. So, give them an educational and useful punishment.Afterwards, tell the intent of the sentence.

Educating children according to Islam is beautiful. If you can do it right, God willing, your children will grow up and behave well, and love their family.
